Description
I ordered custom pine carpentry panels from OPMAATZAGEN.nl. I painted the pine panels white myself and hung them between two walls. The shelves are hung on the side because the back wall is not strong enough.
How did you make the shelves?
1. I measured the sizes between the walls. Because the walls (even in new construction) can be slightly sloping, I measured the dimensions per plank. This concerns six different orders from OPMAATZAGEN.nl.
2. I cut the planks on the side slightly so that the angle irons fit in.
3. I lightly sanded the planks and varnished them with white lacquer (acrylic based). I prefer to use turpentine paint. That's easy to paint. I gave the planks 3 layers.
4. I measured out angle irons, installed them and hung the planks.
If you have a saw table, it is nicer to make a saw cut from the back along the length of the plank. You can mount the angle iron (or perhaps a T-profile) completely blindly. You just cannot secure the plank. However, the shelf cannot tilt. As far as I'm concerned, that would be safe enough.
How wide are the planks?
The planks are 158.0 cm wide.
