In this DIY project, Stephan shows that customization is a solution for very specific storage needs. He used custom-sawn poplar plywood to make two handy storage boxes for laser tag equipment. Read below how he tackled this project and what his experience is.

Description of Stephan

I made 2 boxes for my work with the wood from TOSIZE.at . Our laser pistols go into the boxes. The old MDF boxes needed to be replaced. And also much too heavy. Now I make the boxes from poplar plywood. The boxes are filled so much easier to lift. We use the laser guns ourselves in our activities and also rent them out. The boxes must be strong and not too heavy. They must also be easy to transport.

How I made this project

The wood was delivered to your home cut to size. I screwed the boxes together and finally painted them black. There is a hinged bottom in the middle of the boxes, so that we can store two layers of 8 laser guns per box. Metal protective caps will be mounted on the corners later. To be able to carry the boxes properly, I saw out handles on the short sides. The black paint protects the wood, because the boxes are regularly taken outside.

Dimensions of my DIY project

Outside dimensions are approximately 58.0 x 45.0 x 45.0 cm
