In this DIY project, Geert shows how he has furnished a student room smartly and efficiently with custom-sawn pine carpentry panels. This way he can store all his things, including many books, in a good way. Read more about his experience below.

Description by Geert

Bookshelves above the bed, where a shelf slides under a sloping roof and the lengths of the bookshelves also slope nicely. In addition, a large open wall cupboard for clothing (with space for hanging and lying down), books, office supplies, bedding, towels, toiletries and shoes.

How I made this project

I sanded all the pine boards neatly and treated them with linseed oil. From the remaining pieces of my order, I used a circular saw (mitred) to cut the slats on which the planks are placed and I neatly pre-drilled all the plates and slats. Because everything was sawn perfectly to the millimeter, I could then put the wall cabinet together tightly, so that it fits both the ceiling and the walls. The only adjustments I had to make to the sawing work concerned unforeseen deviations due to a continuous frame at the top left and a butt over a ventilation pipe at the bottom right.
