Children's play area and TV furniture in one, by Maarten

In this DIY project, Maarten shows how he got creative with designing and making a TV cabinet and play area for his child in one. He got to work with custom-sawn MDF and pine wood panelling. Read more about his approach below.

A low piece of furniture for under the TV that also serves as storage for toys and a small desk for the baby

How I made this project

The outside is made of 30mm MDF and the connections are made with dowels and wood glue. For stability, a back plate has been glued and screwed into the vertical planks that provide the compartment division. The drawers are made of pine wood panels. These were also put together with dowels and wood glue. There are box wheels at the bottom so that they can move in and out of the compartments. Behind the left drawer there is again a recessed shelf for the PlayStation and the TV cabinet.
