I made a bar at the existing kitchen from Multiplex Birch. I thickened the edge by placing a slat against it, also made of plywood. I had this miter cut by so that it would fit together nicely!

Hanneke's bar is made of plywood Birch. Plywood consists of several solid layers, in this case layers of birch wood, which are cross-glued together.
