In this DIY project, Eric shows how he made a beautiful custom storage cabinet with sawn MDF blank and lacquer carrier film. It looks playful because the cupboard is partly open and closed. This custom cupboard is a perfect addition to the baby room!
Description by Eric
A difficult to use niche in the future baby room, deep and very high converted into a lockable storage space with a part in which you can put away nice things
How I made this project
The niche is difficult to use because of the sizes. About 100 cm wide and deep and 160 cm high. After choosing 1 part open and 2 parts lockable, I made a design. Chosen for MDF for the body and MDF with lacquer carrier film for the doors. The whole therefore consists of 3 identical parts. Started with the bottom, which is loose. 2 side panels rest on this, left and right, each secured with 2 hollow wall anchors. And repeat this 3 times. Due to the high cost price and the fact that you do not see the back half, the side and back wall are only functional and not complete. The doors are attached with Hettich hinges. Easy to attach with a drilling template and a special 36 mm drill for countersinking the hinges in the doors. By making the doors a little longer, handles are not needed.
